Mehmet Gün |

Gün was born in İstanbul , in 1956. He studied painting and philosophy of the arts at the University of Fine Arts, in Vienna and received a PHD in both majors. He also studied and did research on biochemistry, astrophysics and astronomy, at the same university, between 1982-85. Gün displayed his first tone installation, 'Purple Rain', in 1985. He continued his work in this direction with the mental support of John Cage, whom he had met during this exhibition. He stayed in Paris between 1985-1987. Then, he moved onto Berlin as the guest of the art program of the city of Berlin (DAAD). There, he added electroacustic tape recordings to his tone works. He created many pieces of this kind at the Berlin Technical University and he developed his studio techniques and the work he does with these techniques. Gün's work is displayed broadly in many countries, in museums and galleries such as: New York Solomon Guggenheim Museum, United Nations Center, Vienna, Ankara Museum of Painting and Sculpture, The Ministry of Culture collection, Ankara, Berlin Wewwerka Gallery, Manufacturer's Hannover Trust Co., New York, Schering AG Berlin. Sinan Bökesoy Born in 1971, Sinan Bökesoy studied in İstanbul German Highschool and İstanbul Technical University where he received his college degree in Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications. He got involved with music at an early age by playing the piano. Then, with the support of Mete Sakpınar, he studied music theory and composition. He participated in the International Computer Music Conferences which took place in Thessoleniki in 1997, and at Michigan University in 1998. In the last three years, he has performed during the Congress of Informatics and he participated in the 2nd İstanbul Music Festival with one of his performances and a lecture. He continues to work with music in his own production studio. Mahmut Yalay He got involved in music by playing the bass guitar in the orchestra of İzmir College. In 1983, he entered Berklee College of Music and stayed in USA for 7 years. During this period, after studying at Berklee for 2 years, he continued his education by taking upright bass lessons from John Lockwood and playing at the historical jazz club, Wally's.He returned to Turkey in 1990 and played with local jazz musicians in İstanbul and Ankara. In 1996, he played on Emin Fındıklıoğlu's album, 'Sinir Standard and Other Dog Songs.' In 1997, he released the CD of the Lodos project with Sarp Maden, Oğuz Büyükberber and Ateş Tezer under ADA Records. This album consists of the original compositions of the three musicians, including four pieces by Yalay. He played with Lodos in the French Center of Culture in İstanbul and İzmir (1995), played with İmer Demirer and Önder Focan at the 1996 Yapı Kredi Youth Festival, performed with Ruacan, Fındıklıoğlu and Lodos during the ODTÜ Jazz festival, perrormed as in a trio with İmer Demirer and Ateş Tezer at CRR, and with Kerem Görsev and Ateş Tezer at the İtü Fondation concert, and performed with Ötenel, Demirer and Tezer in Ankara during the Akbank Jazz Festival. He is influenced by many musicians including: J.S. Bach, Ram Narayan, Ali Akbar Han, Milt Hinton, Paul Chambers, John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, Sadrettin Özçimi, and Kani Karaca.
