"Room/ Train Station" / Denis Pondruel
(Multimedia Installation)
29.4.2000> 01.7.2000

In this exhibition conceived by a french contemporary french artist, Denis Pondruel, the on-line images from a camera placed in the train station of the city, Amiens, were projected onto a 3 x 5m screen in the gallery in Istanbul.

The screen also included a hole large enough for a person to enter and move forward in.This opening allows entrance to an unusual space with a room like interior, a gap in the images acting as an invitation to a world , a hole which adds a new dimension to the image.

From the exterior it looked like a form, a sculpture.
This form named 'room' by the artist recalls some familiar shapes: in a rather unclear way it could be perceived as an iron, body of a boat or the shape of a knife.

This project made possible with the support of AFAA (French Association for Artistic Action), The Amiens Muniplicity Institute of French Culture and the Turkish Internet Company, NETONE, was included in the cultural exchange program of the "Amiens-2000" events. The first part of the project took place at Dulcinea during May and June and the second one in January 2001 at the Maison de la Culture d'Amiens. This time the images taken from the most popular street in Istanbul, Istiklal caddesi  was transferred by the Internet onto a scren in the gallery in Amiens.
